Skewl fer Kewl Kids

2 million hits and counting. Yeap, 2 million average a month is pretty nice to think about. And soon, you'll find my articles there as well. So far, I've been self assigned and partly confirmed to do reviews on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and of Uni Qlo. Woo~!

Check out the site here.

So anyways, I'm pretty tired Q_Q. I do have enough rest but I suppose I'm just not used to skewl just yet. And classes end at 10pm today lol. Ouh yahh, My N5610 with is bling-bling slider crashed or something, apparently if doesn't get pass the welcome screen now :( so I'm using the old razr. Which, I can't really type properly on gahh.

Fortunately I found this video with failed ninja auditions, lol:

Here's to wishing us

a Good semester ahead.

And yes, fulfillment's the name of the game. I spelt it wrong above LOL, but heh, just for illustrative purposes.

Yeap, busy sem ahead, so many things to look forward/overcome. But I've sort of come to a conclusion as to how I can survive this upcoming sem. That is, an improvement to hao-man's advice, which is, on top of treating the entire sem as a marathon, it's to make each day fulfilling for myself. I want to be satisfied and happy with every day in my life. Sounds really corny and stuff, but when you think about growing up and stuff, I guess I want to treasure each day as much as I can. And not drag my life through everything.

So I'll blog as much as possible, and here's a vid to lighten up the mood: What I think is the best Singaporean ads so far.

Susan's Got Talent

Check her out here!

I saw the signs first on yahoo! news and only checked it out some 12 hours later.

And its great. Let her speak for herself, but the video is dramatic(ally) good in its build-up. Awesome I'd say, unfortunately, embedding is disabled by request but do check it out. Its worth it than say, watching Mark try, and we all know how much he tries ;D

I design namecards now!

or at least, when I'm bored.

I got real bored today, which is a good thing, since the bane of all people my age is hitting in 5 days *shudders*

So right, I tried creating my own signature out of boredom, and as a result of thoughtless cropping, I conclude that yes, I can design namecards too. [I know I always use the same silhouette, but what to do, I also don't have many action poses]

So anyways, I met with Ben, Sherd and Jer for lunch yesterday and we explored Tampines 1. Its not THAT bad, alot of Japanese shops and a foodcourt with a Hokkaido Ramen that I want to eat.

Anyways, we went past several time, Glo Ino or something liddat. A japanese casual wear shop which was holding an opening sale! It was real crowded since they had a "9-people-in-store-at-any-one-time" policy? But the clothes look greaaat. I want!

In other areas of my life, I'm still trying to get used to wearing specs and trying to style my hair to fit the specs gahhh. I miss contacts already. Q_Q

no more contacts for me! Foggy glasses, sweaty feeling, no fast movement Q_Q. . . *shrugs* I don't know why I did it anyway :(

Alright, anyways, my submission to teecube has finally been processed. Unfortunately, the image cannot be seen =_= / :O / >_< but still,

or go to teecube > voting > and look for dirisis: true street.
AND VOTE! [I think needa register but it takes less than 5 minutes cmon :D]

MY FRIENDS,
IT IS COMPULSORY THAT YOU DO THIS IMMEDIATELY.

Inner Universe

Inner Universe - Origa

Hi guys, as you can see, I've changed quite the bit of the layout, but i'm still looking for a suitable blogskin colour since blogger's stock templates either do not fit properly with my current widgets, or are just too ugly :(

Anyways, Ghost in the Shell - Inner Universe [Video Above]
is yes, from an anime, but what makes it interesting is that the language in the ost was specially composed from existing languages. If I remember correctly, it's a mix of english, japanese and russian - so anyways, its pleasant to listen to.

As for the sudden randomness on the song, its all due to my boredom that today I actually started on the pilot episodes of 'House MD' and 'Ghost in the Shell' - to ben's surprise.

Anyways, my necks dead,

badminton yesterday saw me trashed and I had to be given chance at overhead shots and far end hits. But interestingly, out of desperation, I realised I can play badminton with my left hand - and quite decently too!

Pool was just as bad, since I had to position my head for better shots, still funny things happened, especially when I played against Sj who was doing his usual 'Sj-ness':

"Dan, let me show you how its done"

*Breaks*

* only 2 balls get seperated from the formation*

"eh durr can restart anot?"

My neck is pounding..

from the dance session yesterday during my bath when I was blasting some music, heh heh. I was attempting some Jabbawockeez/popping/breaking move when I think I over did it. I sprained my neck. I think it was when I played Electro World by Perfume ahaha.

So well, my sprained neck accompanied me to Nihon Mura at Tampines where I had lunch with Ben, Sherd and Sj. And it will today when I go for badminton at Changi Beach Club with Ben, Sherd and Sj again ahahaha. Except today its really more painful. Which make me hope I can survive the badminton session. I'll prolly play slow and smart, and strike when the time is right, y'know, do the stances ahaha. Like Sun Tzu said, "if you have sprain neck, you beat noob if patient"

Anyways, Threadless declined my entry because it was pixelated ahaha. wrong resolution this time and not cauz of design, which, thankfully I'm glad, since on second thought I would prefer entering in Teecube's competition. So..

here's my design! when the submission is approved your must vote ok! Some despo guy submitted 38 different entries =_= some of which looked suspiciously plagarised work. It's really irritating tsk.

But well, for each submission he did, only 1 or 2 voted with low ratings ahahaha.

Are you guys bored

that I talk about designs all the time?

heh. I'm bored too but well, my life isn't really eventful as of late, save for:

which I'm on duty from thursday - sunday Q_Q.
As much as I want to say be there cauz it will impact your life, I'm really dreading everything.

hahaha, for selfish reasons like school is starting and I've haven't had the pleasure of doing absolutely nothing, enough. And that so many events have eaten up my entire holiday.

On top of that, there are so many things to worry about, new subjects, internship, napha, being a net leader, etc etc etc. I'm doing nothing right now as I blog this but my mind is stressed out just from the looming 'busy-ness'!

I really really neeeeed to do nothing. gahh.

On a lighter, familiar, boring note, I've finished my street design and submitted it to threadless.

But here's the dilemma. When I went to SG's teecube and saw the entries to date, I must say I have a pretty good chance of winning (I 'deluded-ly' yet humbly claim this :X) but upon going to threadless ($3300 deal). I realised that my chances of landing the money ain't as high. Q_Q

I realised that even when Threadless approves my tees, the community still has to vote on it, and after voting, only when my designs get printed do I get paid the $$$. But I don't have time to wait if I want to submit the designs for teecube (which is really shady of its deadline, making it hard for me to decide)

The worst part is, when I look at some of Threadless' approved entries, some of them are just badd :O so why wasn't my selected ahahaha.  I mean, its bad that even MY designs are better :(

ouh, I'm not putting up my street designs for now, since I'm overly paranoid and well, *shrugs*

and seriously, i need to practice my pen skills, but I need inspiration heh. And original pictures gahh. whyyy Q_Q

IF YOU GOT BORED READING THIS POST (like I did when I re-read for typos)
: Give me a theme to blog about or design on :D
In my life, inspiration moved on.

I mastered the PEN TOOL~!!

heh heh, lets put it this way, after so long, I've learned and gotten the hold of how to use photoshop's PEN TOOL! ahahaha.

Y'know, everytime I use the line tool in photoshop, and if the mode isn't properly selected, I will encounter this wierd thing called the pen tool. It's wierd and infuriating to not understand how it works, (I'm talking about the one with the anchor points one, not the freestyle pen tool)

So anyways, 3 days back, out of freedom and boredom, I went online looking for explanations and instructions on how to use the pentool. ALMOST every article I read began something like this:

"The pen tool is one of the 2 most important tools in photoshop..."
or
"Mastering the pen tool is essential in fully taking advantage of photoshop's blah blah blah"

And it was some infuriating read through article after article and wierdo videos on youtube. But thankfully, after some random video/article/ experimenting, I realised how the pentool work and I realised its awesomeness for drawing or simply for creating vectors/silluoettes in photoshop. ZOMG.

Take for example this picture.

Remember the brush I created for this? but now, the one above which I used the pen tool and not the magnetic lesso tool, is just SWEET. ZOMG luh, I recommend anyone reading this post and using photoshop, to learn the pen tool. The trick to anchors, is the alt key and the 'apple' key.

Anyways, 2 days back, I received a mail from teecube. They are having a design competition again, winners get to have their designs bought from 77th Street, which might not be fabulous, but still fantastic for a portfolio or anything. winners take $250 max and deadlines on April 19.

HOWEVER, since its in April 19, I decided to use my design for threadless first. Since $3.3k > $250. And if it doesn't get accepted then I go teecube heh heh.

I will fully take this opportunity to exercise my newfound knownledge in the pentool! hahaha.
